Under the theme "Controlling the cybersecurity risks associated with remote work", the Ministry represented by Oman CERT organized the 8th cybersecurity drill for the Arab countries and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, with the participation of 25 Arab and regional countries.

The drill that was conducted online in partnership with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, aims to strengthen efforts between National Cybersecurity Centers in the region by developing national skills and capabilities in the field of emergency management, in addition to enhance readiness to deal with various electronic risks and threats, and identify the best ways to deal with them.

Organized annually, the drill keeps abreast of the latest developments in the field of cybersecurity, hacking and malware. In this edition, the focus was on simulating international cross-border cooperation to deal with cybersecurity incidents in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, and ways to address cyber risks emerging from the governments direction to work remotely.

It is worth noting that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has chosen the Sultanate, represented by Oman CERT for the third time in a row, to host this drill, due to the fact that OCERT is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Centers for Computer Emergency Readiness Teams of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
